Second Intermix Residency Launched In Saudi Arabia

In an initiative to boost the art and culture scene in Saudi Arabia, the second edition of the Intermix Residency, Art & Fashion Reimagined Program, has been launched by the Visual Arts Commission and the Fashion Commission in collaboration. This program will take place in JAX, the creative district in the Ad Diriyah district of Riyadh. The program comprises fully funded residencies providing visual art and fashion design professionals with time, space, and collaboration opportunities to facilitate creative development.

Details About The Programme

The residency program consists of three cycles, each lasting ten weeks. The first cycle is scheduled to run from October 22 to January 4, while the dates for the second and third cycles will be announced later this year. Each residency cycle aims to accommodate 15 participants, including Saudi nationals, residents, and international practitioners.

This art residency is designed to support artists, fashion designers, and curators in developing their creative projects. Participants can work alongside peers, other professionals, experts, and local communities, creating a dynamic environment for growth and collaboration. The program promotes critical, technical, and professional development through a collaborative exchange model.

Eligibility

The residency program is open to emerging and mid-career artists, fashion designers, and local and international curators.

The program aims to explore how their work can be applied to the local context, focusing on innovation, transformation, and sustainability. Participants will receive a fixed monthly stipend, studio space, accommodation within walking distance of the studios, and a cultural trip outside of Riyadh. They may also apply for a production grant, evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must provide detailed information about their professional experiences, interests, and creative practices. A committee of visual arts and fashion design experts will conduct the evaluation process.
