Mumbai’s luxury hospitality landscape has a striking new addition. Roswyn Mumbai has officially opened as India’s first Morgans Originals hotel, marking an important milestone for Ennismore and introducing the renowned lifestyle brand to the country.

Located next to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Roswyn redefines luxury in India by focusing on space, privacy, thoughtful design, and a genuine sense of homecoming. Conceived as “a home in another city,” the 109-suite hotel meets the needs of today’s travellers, blending work meetings, social life, and wellness into a seamless experience.

I attended the launch in Mumbai, and the concept becomes clear almost as soon as you walk through the doors. The lobby feels more like the living room of a beautifully curated private residence than a conventional hotel reception. There is a warmth and intimacy to the space, with layered interiors, art, and soft lighting that encourage guests to explore around rather than simply check in and move on.

Designed Around Real City Life

Roswyn was imagined around the rhythms of contemporary urban travel. Meetings run late, flights get delayed, and stopovers often turn into extended stays. The hotel embraces this fluidity by offering suites that function as complete living spaces.

Each of the 109 suites starts at 80 square metres and includes a lounge area, kitchenette, home bar, dedicated study, and bedroom. These are spaces where guests can unpack, host meetings, work productively, entertain, and truly settle in.

Mumbai moves quickly, but people still look for places where they can slow down, meet, and spend time together,” said Nitan Chhatwal, Managing Director of Shrem Airport Hotels. “With Roswyn, we wanted to create something that feels easy to return to—whether that’s for dinner, conversations, or simply a pause in the day.”

Speaking with Outlook Traveller, Rajiv Kapoor, General Manager - Fairmont Mumbai and Roswyn, A Morgans Originals Hotel, described the property as a “home for business.”

“Mumbai is the New York of India,” he said. “People come here with a purpose. Roswyn gives them everything they need under one roof, a place to work, rest, and look after their wellbeing without losing time moving between offices, hotels, and meeting spaces.”

A Business Hotel That Turns Into A Weekend Resort

Kapoor summed up Roswyn’s positioning with a line that captures its dual personality perfectly: “Monday to Friday, we are a business hotel. On Friday night, we turn into a resort.”

That versatility defines the hotel’s appeal. On weekdays, Roswyn is dedicated to entrepreneurs, executives, and international travellers seeking privacy and seamless service. By the weekend, the hotel intentionally transforms itself, shifting from a business hub into a vibrant destination tailored for staycations and social escapes, creating a distinctly different atmosphere for leisure and relaxation.

Integral to Roswyn's flexible identity is The Third Room, a curated workspace and business leaders’ club where meetings, networking, and downtime blend naturally.

The culinary programme is equally distinctive. Fi'lia serves Italian cuisine inspired by recipes passed from grandmother to mother to daughter, with Neapolitan-style pizzas and hand-rolled pastas designed for lingering lunches and late dinners.

After dark, Black Lacquer shifts the mood entirely. The Japanese listening bar revolves around vinyl records, sake, shochu, and expertly crafted highballs, moving from quiet conversation to a more animated social atmosphere as the evening unfolds.

Wellness And Longevity At The Centre

Roswyn places equal emphasis on wellbeing. Guests have access to a Technogym-powered fitness centre, infinity pool, and Tiny Town, a dedicated children’s zone.

The standout wellness offering is Blu Xone, described as India’s first longevity-focused wellness concept. Designed to support healthspan and performance, it reflects the growing importance of preventive wellbeing among modern travellers.

“After COVID, people have realised that experiences matter more than ever,” Kapoor told Outlook Traveller. “It is not just about spending money. It is about the value and quality of the experience.”

A Design That Feels Personal

The interiors, created by Paris-based designer Daphné Desjeux, were conceived as the imagined home of a French woman who has moved to Mumbai.

Rather than relying on predictable motifs, Desjeux interpreted the city through embroidered portraits, ceramic plates marked “Bombay,” and thoughtful references to Mumbai’s shoreline and layered cultural identity. The result is a hotel that feels deeply personal and residential rather than staged or overly formal.

A New Benchmark For Mumbai

Roswyn’s debut as India’s first Morgans Originals hotel marks a major milestone for Ennismore and Accor, underscoring their confidence in India as one of the world’s most dynamic hospitality markets. The hotel represents a new chapter in lifestyle-led luxury, designed to become an integral part of Mumbai’s cultural and social fabric.

Louis Abboud, Chief Growth Officer Ennismore, said, “Lifestyle hospitality today is about far more than design-led hotels; it’s about creating culturally relevant destinations that become part of a city’s everyday rhythm. India is one of the most dynamic hospitality markets globally and an important focus for Ennismore’s growth. Roswyn, under Morgans Originals, marks our first hotel in the country, and an important step as we look to bring several more distinctive projects to the market in the years ahead.”

Ranju Alex, CEO Accor South Asia, added, “At Accor, we see hospitality as an ever-evolving reflection of how people live, connect, and experience cities today. The opening of Roswyn, as part of Ennismore brands, marks an important milestone in bringing globally relevant, lifestyle-led hospitality to India. With Roswyn, we are not just introducing a new hotel, but a vibrant destination designed to integrate seamlessly into the cultural fabric of the city.
