The annual Rann Utsav in the Great Rann of Kutch is going on in full swing. Winter is the best time to visit this colourful corner of Gujarat. The nearly three-month long festival is being held from November 18, 2015-February 23, 2016. Bhuj, connected to Mumbai and Ahmedabad, is the nearest gateway. You can stay at the Dhordo Tent City, about 85km from Bhuj. Attend programmes of folk dance and music, watch local artisans at work, shop directly from the craftspeople and the village co-operatives, and explore the historical monuments and natural attractions. Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd operates special packages (includes accommodation, food, transport and guided tours) during the festive period. For a dramatic view of the white sands of the Great Rann, plan your visit around a full moon night.
