Rama-Abhirama The Beauty of Rama in Indian Art and Tradition

Head to the National Museum now The exhibition titledRma-Abhirma The Beauty of Rma in Indian Art and Tradition is on display till the end of the month and explores therelevance and impact of the Ramayana epic
within the Indian cultural milieu. With ninety-seven objects on display from seven contributing departments, including jewelery and numismatics, decorative arts, arms and armour, archaeology, painting, manuscript and anthropology, the exhibition showcases the sevens kandas of the epic through the lens of emotion and sentiment. It has beautifully captured the co-dependence of artistic traditions of wood-carving, miniature paintings, coin, jewelery and more with living traditions of puppetry, dance and other vernacular art forms. The contrasting art forms and practices on display belonging to different regions and time period reiterate the importance of the story of Rama on a diverse audience.
