Why You Should Visit The Pushkar Camel Fair

Held during the auspicious period of Kartik Poornima, the Pushkar Camel Festival 2018 will take place between the 15^th&nbspand 23^rd&nbspof November. Considered to be one of the largest camel festivals in the world, competitions such as the camel race, longest moustache, and matka phod are expected to add glamour and color to the event. Traders from distant part of the Thar Desert partake in this extravaganza. Furthermore, the buying and selling of livestock hits its peak during the 9-day event.  

The last day of the festival, which is the auspicious day of Kartik Purnima, witnesses unending hordes of devotees bathe in the Pushkar Lake. This sacred location is said to be where Lord Brahma dropped the lotus flower into the Earth.

Gathering in the heart of the city, colorful tents, shop arraying bangles, turbans and ethnic wear enamor the glorious festival. Pushkar, where the event takes place, is one of the oldest cities of India. Closely associated with the divine chapters of Hinduism, the town overlooks the holy waters of the Pushkar Lake.

Snake charmers, folk musicians, and traditional dances bring a sense of harmony and culture to the historical festival. The city, which is a popular location for Hindu pilgrims, is set in the midst of quaint havelis, Rajputana forts and palaces, and temples dating back centuries.
