Punjab Makes E-Registration Mandatory

Starting today, people travelling to and from Punjab by road have to e-register themselves. The decision was taken after the state Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh dissolved the 14-day home quarantine rule, but Delhi continued to experience soaring number of cases.

Keeing in mind those travelling from the national capital, the e-registration norm has been made compulsory for all those entering into or transiting through the state. The process has been made simple, people can complete the procedure from the comfort of their homes.

The state government has advised travellers to register themselves through the COVA app or via the weblink This would help them avoid any inconvenience of crowding or queues at border checkpoints. 

The process is extremely simple and can be done in just a couple of minutes. The COVA app, available on Play Store and App Store, must be installed in your smartphone. Then using the option of &lsquoSelf registration for travel into/ through Punjab&rsquo you just need to fill in your details and press &lsquoSubmit&rsquo and the process is over.

For those using the web link, there is nothing to worry about. Click on the link, fill in the details and press &lsquoSubmit&rsquo, and the registration will be done.  The primary traveller will receive a confirmation link via SMS. Use it to take a printout with the QR code. For all four or three wheelers, this should be displayed on the left side of the windscreen or left on the dashboard as it will be checked at every border checkpost.

This will be followed by medical screening, and if you clear that, you can continue with the journey. In case of anyone displays COVID-19 symptoms, necessary quarantine measures will be taken and the police station and government will be duly notified.
