Prime Minister Modi Unveils Haryana Leg Of Dwarka Expressway

In a stride towards enhancing connectivity and easing congestion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the 19-kilometer-long Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway. This development is poised to revolutionise travel between Delhi and Gurugram on NH-48, promising improved traffic flow and heightened economic activities within the National Capital Region (NCR).

The Dwarka Expressway, spanning a total of 29 kilometres, allocates 18.9 kilometres to Haryana, with the remaining 10.1 kilometres situated in Delhi. Notably, the foundation stone for this ambitious project was laid by former Union ministers Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, and Nitin Gadkari on March 9, 2019.

Addressing a gathering post-inauguration, PM Modi emphasised the transformative impact of the expressway on regional livelihoods and transportation experiences. He further underscored the successful execution of major infrastructure ventures, including the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and Delhi–Meerut Expressway. These endeavors, coupled with metro line expansions and airport constructions, signify a concerted effort to mitigate traffic congestion and environmental pollution across the region.

Furthermore, the PM emphasised the broader socioeconomic ramifications of expressway construction, citing its role in fostering industrial corridors and augmenting employment opportunities. Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari lauded the Dwarka Expressway as a testament to modern engineering prowess. He revealed significant cost savings in the project's execution and outlined the government's robust roadmap for continued infrastructure development in Delhi and its environs.

Dwarka Expressway, distinguished as India's inaugural elevated 8-lane urban expressway, embodies a critical component of the Center's comprehensive highway development agenda in the NCR. Envisioned at an estimated cost of INR 9,000 crore, the expressway is poised to alleviate congestion and bolster regional connectivity.
