On a Royal Caribbean cruise

The Oasis, started accepting bookings for itineraries in late 2009, ushered in Royal Caribbean&rsquos next generation of cruise ships. Virtually a floating city, Oasis boasts the first ever carousel at sea and two 43ft-high rock climbing walls. On offer are itineraries along the eastern and western Caribbean, the Bahamas, etc.

The ship also introduces the &lsquoneighbourhood&rsquo concept seven themed areas that allow vacationers to seek spaces based on their personal styles, preferences or moods. The AquaTheater, for instance, has a kidney-shaped pool to splash in, with tiered platforms surrounding it. Scuba lessons are available in the afternoons. At night, though, the area transforms into a stage with theatrical performances, acrobatics, synchronised swimming, water ballet and professional high diving, as well as elaborate fountain shows synchronised to music and lights.
