Odisha Adds 4 Brand New Eco Retreats To Its Growing List

With its many attractions and beautiful landscape, Odisha is one of the most gorgeous places to visit in India. Notably, the Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, has inaugurated four new eco retreats in exotic destinations, marking a milestone in the state's tourism journey.

The eco retreats in the stunning locales of Putsil, Daringbadi, Satkosia, and Hirakud bear witness to Odisha's commitment to sustainable tourism. During the inaugural event, Patnaik emphasized the success of this flagship programme and its expansion into these four unique locations. Praised across the tourism industry for their sustainable practices, Odisha's innovative ideas, such as waste to wealth and holistic resource management, are truly commendable. Furthermore, their endeavour to provide a refined and luxurious hospitality experience akin to five-star category resorts deserves admiration.

The inception of these retreats dates back to the initial event held in 2019 at Ramchandi Beach near Konark. Bolstered by its success, four new locations—Baliput (Satkosia), Bhitarkanika, Daringbadi, and Hirakud—were added in 2020. The momentum continued with two more expansions in 2022 to Sonapur Beach and Putsil (Koraput), offering an even more exhilarating experience this year. Notably, the Eco Retreat Konark will open on December 15, while Eco Retreat Bhitarkanika and Sonapur Beach will welcome visitors from December 1, as confirmed by an official statement.

Lelin Mohanty, the chairman of the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC), highlighted the meticulous efforts made to ensure that tourism activities in these destinations leave minimal impact on the natural environment. The strategic location of the Eco Retreats in ecologically sensitive areas reflects the state's commitment to preserving the beauty and sanctity of these places.

Each Eco Retreat offers 25 tents brimming with an array of engaging activities. Guests visiting these sites this winter can relish a luxurious camping experience with 5-star amenities set amidst the splendour of nature. Guided excursions and adventure sports like paragliding and water sports add an extra edge to their stay, promising unforgettable memories.
