India has been in the process of creating travel bubbles between certain countries.&nbspA travel bubble pact involves the opening and sharing of air spaces between two countries willing to admit travellers across borders. All the usual standard operating procedures (SOPs) are in place, of course.

To add to that, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs announced on August 7 that OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) cardholders from the countries with who India has a travel bubble pact (which is the US, UK, Germany and France) will be allowed to visit the country. Indian citizens can also travel to these countries on any kind of visa. Moreover, other foreigners from these countries can also avail of an Indian visa if they are coming for business, medical and employment work.

Under 'Unlock 3', international travel remains banned with the only flights operating internationally being those bringing back stranded Indian citizens. But the Centre has been gradually easing restrictions, and permitting some foreigners like OCIs to come into India.  .

The home ministry has clarified that Indian missions based in these travel bubble countries will grant the visas, but decisions wll be based on papers provided by the applicants. These travellers will also be exempt from existing restrictions that other passengers to India have been put under at immigration check posts. The home ministry has also said that it may relax visa and travel restrictions for more categories of foreigners who want to travel to India.

The ministry has said that any Indian with any kind of visa of such countries will be permitted to travel to the country, provided, of course, that the destination country does not have any travel restriction on Indian citizens. So do check before you book a ticket.
