Nagarahole Tiger Reserve Revises Safari Timings And Entry Fees

Recently, the safari schedule and admission costs to the Nagarhole Tiger Reserve were updated by the Karnataka Forest Department. The modifications are set to come into effect from June 2025 onwards. These changes, applicable to all the safari gates in the reserve, are meant to control visitor activities and enable wildlife conservation.

About Nagarahole Tiger Reserve

The Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, also called Rajiv Gandhi National Park, is a part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and includes portions of the Karnataka districts of Mysuru and Kodagu. It is one of India's best places to see tigers and is home to a wide range of wildlife, including sloth bears, tigers, elephants, leopards, dholes, and birds.

The Forest Department conducts safaris at three primary sites: the Nanachi gate in Kodagu district, the Veeranahosahalli gate in Hunsur taluk, and the Kakanakote gate in Antharasanthe Range in H D Kote taluk. Both local and foreign tourists frequently visit these locations to see wildlife, especially during the dry season when animals congregate around water sources.

Booking A Safari At Nagarhole Tiger Reserve

Safari operations will now take place within designated morning and afternoon hours in accordance with the new directive. The fees for different safari types at Nagarhole Tiger Reserve have also been modified by the Forest Department according to vehicle category and nationality. In addition to raising funds for park maintenance and conservation initiatives, the goal is to control the increasing number of visitors.

The Eco-Tourism Board oversees safari reservations, which are contingent upon availability, especially during the busiest vacation seasons. It is recommended that travellers make plans ahead of time, particularly for the jeep safaris with limited capacity. The modifications are a part of larger initiatives to guarantee sustainable tourist practices being implemented throughout Karnataka's protected areas.

Morning Safari: 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM

Evening Safari: 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Revised Fee Structure

Jeep Safari: INR 500 per person (Indian nationals); INR 1,500 per person (foreign nationals)

Bus Safari: INR 300 per person (Indian nationals); INR 800 per person (foreign nationals)

Boat Safari: INR 500 per person (Indian nationals); INR 1,000 per person (foreign nationals)

Camera Fees: INR 50 for still cameras; INR 1,000 per day for video cameras
