To revitalise its economy and encourage long-term tourists to visit the island nation, Mauritius has come up with a few perks.

Apart from offering free long-term renewable visas, tourists with premium visas will also get free vaccines.

The Oxford-AstraZeneca Covishield vaccine manufactured in India will be provided to all premium visa holders who are above 18 years of age.

However, there are certain prerequisites for access to the visa. To be eligible, a person should be earning income from outside Mauritius and meet certain immigration requirements. Apart from this, they should have a negative COVID-19 PCR result, and have travel and health insurance. They will also have to quarantine for 14 days at an approved facility.

Located off the south east coast of Africa, in the Indian Ocean, Mauritius is one of the most popular destinations for tourists from all over the world. One of the smallest countries in the world, this serene island nation is surrounded by nearly 100 miles of white, sandy beaches and is home to two UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Mauritius, whose economy is heavily dependent on tourism, has been focusing on attracting visitors again. Retirees with long term visa plans and digital nomads are being welcomed with open arms. To encourage longer stays, the government now issues a Mauritius Premium Visa wherein international visitors can spend upto 12 months in the country. And the visa can be renewed again.
