Malaysia Airlines Expands Free Bonus Side Trip Offer For Global Travellers

In a move that enhances travel convenience and cultural discovery, Malaysia Airlines has expanded its Bonus Side Trip (BST) programme, allowing international travellers to add a second Malaysian destination to their itinerary at no extra fare. The initiative is available to those transiting through Kuala Lumpur and is part of the airline’s broader efforts to promote Malaysia’s diverse destinations ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

As part of this innovative programme, Malaysia Airlines is offering complimentary domestic return flights from Kuala Lumpur to seven carefully selected cities: Langkawi, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuantan, Alor Setar, Kuala Terengganu, and Kota Bharu. These destinations offer a mix of heritage, nature, and authentic local experiences—ideal for travellers looking to get more out of their Malaysian holiday without the added cost or complexity of traditional stopovers.

Unlike conventional travel add-ons, BST is seamlessly integrated into the ticket booking, making it an easy and attractive option for those flying into Malaysia from abroad.

To promote the programme, Malaysia Airlines recently hosted a group of international influencers from India, Australia, China, Thailand, and other key markets for a curated experience in Langkawi—one of the Bonus Side Trip destinations. The itinerary included visits to iconic spots like Kilim Geoforest Park, Langkawi SkyCab, and local artisan hubs, providing a glimpse into the island’s rich ecological and cultural fabric.
