Kolkata gets free Wi-Fi

The City of Joy is going to be India--s first fully Wi-Fi enabled city from April 2015

Last week, West Bengal chief minister, Mamata Banerjee, tweeted, "All my WiFi friends, I am tweeting using #WiFiKolkata. So proud to be first Wi-Fi Metro city in India. Congratulations to us all." Yes, you heard it right. The City of Joy, Kolkata, is going to be India&rsquos first fully Wi-Fi enabled city from April 2015. The Wi-Fi service provided by Reliance JIO is currently available at Park Street. All you have to do is select the Wi-Fi option on your device and the browser will show you a unique password from which you can access free Internet. The next area to get free Wi-Fi is going to be Gariahat-Gol Park and by the end of April 2015, the city of Kolkata will be Wi-Fi enabled.
