Saudi Arabia's Khuzama Land Festival Captivates Visitors

Purple-coloured flower lavender has been used for medicinal and therapeutic purposes for centuries. Their fragrant properties have made them a popular ingredient for perfumes and cosmetic products. And if you visit Saudi Arabia's Al-Jouf region, you will find it abundantly. The flower holds a heritage and cultural value to the area.

In a recently concluded event, the Kingdom nation presented its first ever 'Khuzama Land' festival, meaning 'Land of Lavender,' with a focus on celebrating the significance of the flower. Visitors were given a glimpse of how lavender fields have become essential to Al-Jouf's identity, heritage, and traditions. From culinary delights to beauty products, the fortnight event gave visitors a sight of lavender's many aspects.

As part of an ongoing series by the Saudi Ministry of Culture, the festival focused on popularising Al-Jouf as a fascinating cultural destination. Interestingly, the flower also serves as a cultural motif, with ceremonial carpets also painted in the same colour.

This first-of-its-kind event featured themed activities, workshops, markets, and performances to offer a unique and immersive cultural experience of Al-Jouf's distinct cultural heritage and identity. Events such as special theatrical performances and poetry evenings were organised to highlight the significance of lavender in Al-Jouf region and its role in Saudi culture.
