Kangra To Soon Get A Tourism Village And A Golf Course

Kangra district in the state of Himachal Pradesh is known for its spectacular valleys dotted with beautiful towns and villages such as Palampur, which was formerly known as the tea centre of north India, the pottery village of Andretta, and the vibrant towns of Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj.

Several villages in Kangra and Himachal Pradesh have successfully implemented rural tourism strategies. According to an official statement made on Tuesday, a 'tourism village' will be constructed in Kangra to promote local art and culture and offer job possibilities for youth.

Promoting Local Art And Craft

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said in a statement that by creating the tourist village, permanent employment possibilities may be generated by connecting local youngsters with tourism, which will not only ensure tourism development but also improve the state's revenue. According to the statement, local youth would be given job opportunities in the 'tourism village' to showcase local art, culture, handicrafts, music, and more.

Other Tourist Attractions

A zoo is also being built in Bankhandi at a cost of INR 300 crore, and in addition to building the 'tourism village,' a golf course of international standards will be created in Kangra, according to the statement.

Modern facilities such as electric buses, water sports, theme parks, roadside amenities, high-end food courts, heritage site beautification, and eco-tourism would be developed at tourist destinations, in addition to upgrading Asia's largest natural ice skating rink in Shimla and developing an ice and roller skating rink in Manali.
