The JAL COVID-19 Cover offers a bilingual helpline service that travellers can access from any part of the world

A collaboration between Japanese Airlines and Allianz Travel has culminated in a COVID-19 cover, the first of its kind, that mediates between passengers and their travel needs amid a global pandemic.

The &lsquoJAL COVID-19 Cover&rsquo, worth &euro150,000, compensates international travellers for the costs of an initial COVID testing fee, and a consequent treatment plan for those who have contracted the strain during their journey.

Apart from these services, the cover also legitimises, and accounts for, expenses incurred via isolation and repatriation. A bilingual (English and Japanese) 24-hour support line, operational in all parts of the world, will be made available for those who are exhibiting certain symptoms.

This facility will commence from&nbspDecember 23, 2020, and extend its scope to those travelling until June 30, 2021.

&ldquoAs international flights gradually return to service, the JAL Group has implemented key measures against COVID-19 to provide customers a safe and secure travel experience. While it may take time to welcome back customers on a global scale, we hope this coverage with Allianz Travel will provide reassurance to those that need to travel today,&rdquo said Hideo Ninomiya, Managing Executive Officer of Passenger Sales, Japan Airlines.

There are a set of criteria that a passenger who wishes to avail this service ought to conform to. The JAL website details all information pertaining to the cover, including the validity, eligibility, coverage, requisite, and period of the same, as well as contact number/s of the helpline. A list of FAQs is presented on their website to address all queries.
