Here’s some good news for those who enjoy weekend breaks in Jaipur: starting in June, a new link on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway is expected to allow non-stop travel to Jaipur in just two and a half hours.
Starting in June, travellers can take advantage of the new expressway link that will dramatically reduce travel time from Delhi to Jaipur, bringing it down to just 2.5 hours. This 67-kilometre access-controlled highway connects Bandikui to the Jaipur Ring Road, effectively shortening the journey by 20 kilometres. One of the key benefits of this development is that it eliminates the need for vehicles to exit at Dausa, streamlining the travel experience.
This new route, which spans a total of 260 kilometres from the DND Flyway to Jaipur via Bandikui, is designed to enhance connectivity and cater to the growing demand for efficient transportation between the two major cities. With a modern infrastructure setup, commuters can expect a smoother and quicker travel experience, making it easier for both leisure and business travellers to reach their destinations.
Currently, vehicles from Delhi, Gurgaon, and Faridabad exit the expressway at Dausa and switch to NH-21, a four-lane road that winds through towns and villages, with a maximum speed limit of 100 km/h. This route can lead to low travel times and delays. With the new Bandikui link, drivers will no longer have to navigate complicated transitions. Once this new section opens, the entire journey from the DND Flyway to Jaipur will be seamless. While most of the construction is complete, one part remains unfinished: a rail overbridge on the Delhi-Ahmedabad line is still under construction.
In anticipation of its launch, efforts are being made to ensure that traffic can flow on the highway, even if one carriageway of the rail over bridge (ROB) along the Delhi-Ahmedabad line is not yet fully completed. This proactive approach aims to minimise disruptions and enhance the usability of the expressway right from the start, ensuring that the significant time savings and improved access benefits are realised by travellers as soon as the highway opens.
