Soaring The Assamese Skies

Engulfed in mystery, the enigma of the Northeast is appealing to any traveler with a hunger for adventure. From the Khasi Hills of the Meghalaya to the snowy Sikkimese terrains and even the astounding Loktak Lake in Manipur, there's just so much about the Northeast of India that captures the imaginations of many. And it doesn't stop there, India's longest ropeway which is scheduled to be flagged off by April this year will connect main Guwahati to North Guwahati. After India's longest rail-cum-road bridge which was inaugurated in Assam this is another feather on the cap of the nation's gateway into the Northeast.

Overlooking the beautiful Brahamputra River, the 2-km long ropeway will facilitate passengers to cross the river reducing the travel time by an impressive difference. Each cable car will carry 30 passengers each and will operate from Kachari Ghat in Pan Bazaar, serving as the lower terminal, up to the Dol Godavari Temple in North Guwahati, serving as the upper terminal. The journey will take upto 8 minutes providing for a breath-taking view to appease the soul. 

Keep your eyes wide open and look out for the Urvashi Island and the Peacock Island siting idly in cradle that is the Brahamputra River. Catch a glimpse of the Umananda Temple on Peacock Island, built by Ahom King Gadadhar Singha who was said to be a devotee of Lord Shiva.
