If you're planning a trip to Hyderabad, there's an exciting new attraction in the works that's bound to make a splash—India's largest aquarium is set to be built within the city's beloved Nehru Zoological Park.

Set to sprawl across one acre, this ambitious new addition will be a tunnel-style aquarium, allowing visitors to walk through and experience marine life up close. Fish species from Asia, Africa, and the Americas will glide around in carefully recreated habitats, offering a mesmerising glimpse into life under the sea.

A Public-Private Collaboration

The project is being developed at an estimated cost of INR 50 crore under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. The Nehru Zoological Park already features 15 smaller aquariums, but this will take things to an entirely new level, both in scale and scope.

The tunnel-style design is being planned with help from Singaporean and Australian firms, renowned globally for their expertise in creating immersive marine experiences. According to Zoo Director Sunil S Hiremath, the finalised blueprint is expected by 2026, pending approval from the Central Zoo Authority.

More Than Just Fish: A Bulletproof Tiger Enclosure

In addition to the aquarium, the zoo is also preparing to unveil a bulletproof tiger enclosure worth INR 2 crore, allowing visitors to safely observe these majestic big cats through protective glass. This innovative addition will bring people closer to wildlife than ever before.

Boosting Tourism and Conservation Awareness

The introduction of both the massive aquarium and glass tiger enclosure is expected to significantly boost footfall, especially among nature lovers, families, and wildlife photographers. More importantly, these efforts signal a major step in modernising zoological spaces in India and making them more educational, immersive, and conservation-driven.

Whether you're a curious traveller, a parent planning a family outing, or someone who simply loves the ocean, this upcoming attraction in Hyderabad is one to watch. The blend of entertainment, education, and ecological awareness makes it a perfect stop on your next visit to the city.
