Indian tourists eager to experience the wonders of Dubai are facing an unexpected hurdle—an alarming surge in visa rejections. While almost 99 per cent of visa applications were previously approved, the current trend reveals that United Arab Emirates authorities are turning away even the most thoroughly prepared submissions. This sudden shift is causing significant frustration and disappointment among travellers, with their hearts set on this popular holiday destination.
The recent rejections of tourist visa applications to Dubai are primarily due to the United Arab Emirates enforcing stricter requirements. To enhance security and improve the visitor experience, Dubai's immigration department now mandates that travellers provide hotel booking documents containing QR codes and a copy of their return tickets. Those planning to stay with relatives must also ensure their hosts furnish additional proof of accommodation.
Many applicants are facing unexpected denials even with confirmed flight tickets and hotel reservations submitted. This situation is causing significant uncertainty for travellers, leading to financial losses beyond visa fees. Individuals are losing money on already booked flights and accommodations, making it crucial for potential visitors to be aware of these challenges before planning their trips.
The United Arab Emirates recently unveiled a comprehensive new visa policy aimed at enhancing the visa application process for travellers, promoting both security and convenience. Under this new guideline, individuals seeking to enter the UAE must submit essential documentation, including confirmed hotel booking details and return flight tickets, directly on the emigration department's official website when applying for their visa. This marks a significant shift from previous practices, where such documents were only requested at the discretion of airport officials during entry.
Furthermore, the policy mandates that tourists provide evidence of sufficient financial means to support their stay in the city, ensuring they can cover their expenses while visiting. For those applying for a two-month visa, it is necessary to showcase a minimum balance of AED 5,000 (approximately Rs 1.14 lakh) in their credit or debit accounts. Likewise, applicants for a three-month visa must demonstrate that they have at least AED 3,000 available. This requirement not only helps verify visitors' financial stability but also contributes to a more secure and enjoyable experience during their time in the UAE.
