With Independence Day tomorrow, authorities across Delhi and the national capital region (NCR) are implementing strict traffic regulations to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of celebrations, especially around key venues like the Red Fort.

There will be heightened security and road closures on August 15, affecting thousands of commuters. To avoid inconvenience, travellers are urged to stay informed about the latest traffic advisories, plan their journeys well in advance and consider using public transportation options wherever possible.

Here’s a roundup of all the traffic restrictions for Delhi, Faridabad, Gurugram and Noida commuters on August 15, 2025.

Delhi

On August 15, significant traffic restrictions will be enforced from 4-10 AM in and around the Red Fort.

  • Roads Closed: Netaji Subhash Marg, Lothian Road, SP Mukherjee Marg, Chandni Chowk Road, Nishad Raj Marg and adjoining roads will be shut to all general traffic.

  • Traffic Diversions: Vehicles coming from ISBT Kashmere Gate, Salimgarh Bypass, Vikas Marg, and nearby areas will face diversions. To avoid restricted zones, specific routes are planned for buses from Ajmeri Gate, South Delhi, Mall Road and Baraf Khana.

  • Security Measures: Due to tight security, prohibited items such as cameras, binoculars, remote-controlled car keys, handbags and water bottles will not be allowed near the venue.

  • Commuter Advisory: Use of the Delhi Metro is highly recommended, and all commuters should check routes and timings in advance. Police urge vigilance and reporting of suspicious activities.

Faridabad

The Delhi-Faridabad Skyway
  • There will be a complete ban on heavy vehicle movement towards Delhi and within Faridabad from 10 PM on August 14 to 2 PM on August 15.

  • The restricted roads include Badarpur Border, Prahladpur, Karni Singh Shooting Range, Surajkund Gol Chakkar, Mangar Chowki Naka, Dera Fatehpur, Sector 30 Cut, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Sikri, NH-19 (Palwal Road), Elson JCB Chowk and other major routes.

  • Exemptions apply for vehicles carrying essential goods (milk, fruits, vegetables, medicines), emergency services (ambulances, fire services, police) and those with special government permits.

  • Traffic police will strictly enforce these rules, with violations attracting penalties under the Motor Vehicles Act.

Gurugram

  • Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter Delhi from Gurugram from 5 PM on August 14 to 1:30 PM on August 15.

  • Drivers are advised to use the KMP Expressway for out-of-state or district travel and park only in designated zones.

Noida

In Greater Noida, vehicles from the Yamuna Expressway will be stopped at Zero Point on August 15

Noida authorities have imposed strict regulations on the movement of commercial vehicles to manage the flow of traffic and ensure safety during Independence Day events. Heavy, medium and light commercial goods vehicles will be banned from entering Delhi from Noida from 10 PM on August 14 until the conclusion of Independence Day on August 15.

  • Goods vehicles approaching the Chilla border will be redirected to take a U-turn on the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway and use the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.

  • Vehicles arriving via the DND Flyway and Kalindi Kunj will be turned back to use the Noida Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.

  • In Greater Noida, vehicles from the Yamuna Expressway will be stopped at Zero Point and diverted through Pari Chowk, P3, Kasna and Sirsa to access the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
