Work on the cable-stayed Durgam Cheruvu bridge in Hyderabad has come to an end and soon the 230-metre long bridge will be opened to travellers.

Built with a cost of Rs180 crore by the Strategic Road Development Program (SRDP), the bridge is expected to be a key attraction for tourists and visitors. The multi-coloured lighting system will display as many as 25 themes for different occasions just like the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, including Telangana Formation Day, Diwali and Eid. The cables and pylons will be illuminated with multi-coloured lighting that will reflect in the Hussain Sagar lake.

The bridge will reduce the&nbsptravel distance from MindSpace to Jubilee Hills by 2km.

Social media platforms are abuzz with photos and videos of the bridge with people appreciating the work of the municipal corporation who have executed the project. It is already being visited by people in large numbers, especially during the evening. Though fitness freaks and cycle riders are travelling there in the morning.

Here's a video shared by KT Rama Rao, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister of Telangana, on his Twitter feed.

The bridge is most likely to be inaugurated in September though the dates have not been announced yet.
