Nestled in the Great Barrier Reef in the shape of a small heart is a stunning composition of corals swimming in crystal clear blue water yearning for an up-close view of the iconic Heart reef in Australia is only understandable. Discovered nearly 45 years ago amidst the Whitsunday Islands, the iconic reef has ever since been protected, only accessible from a plane ride miles above the sea surface (It is no surprise that the trip has been the chosen moment for more than a few proposals). Finally, the metaphorical walls have been pulled down and the reef has been made available to visitors through an enriched tour of Australia&rsquos new attraction- Heart Island.

More accurately a pontoon, Heart Island is accessible only by a helicopter ride that unfolds the magnificent Whitehaven beach and Hill inlet as precursors to the decadent views of the final destination. Located approximately 60 km from Hamilton Island in Queensland, the pontoon is a five-star luxurious accommodation that houses a small group of six people.

Once on the pontoon, a glass-bottomed boat can be accessed to take a trip around the reef and enjoy the picturesque and rather romantic (owing to its shape) view of Heart reef and even take a dip in the surrounding turquoise waters. Following the trip, the tourists can also try their hand at snorkeling at the Whitsundays, while enjoying their stay at the various luxury hotels it has to offer.
