Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has indicated that Greece will reopen to tourists this summer.

Tourism is an essential and inseparable sector of Greece&rsquos economy, and owing to the pandemic, the country has seen an unprecedented slump in revenues in the last year or so.

The European Union is still lagging in the vaccination rollouts due to the initiative of centralising the procurement of vaccines. As of now, it is not clear whether vaccination certificates will be mandatory or not, to travel to and from European countries.

Meanwhile Greece has established its temporary standard vaccination certificate. A new &lsquosafe travel&rsquo plan is being worked upon and by June 1, Greece plans on opening up to tourists.

With a negative coronavirus test report (test taken 72 hours prior departure), travellers can avoid quarantine regulations.

Many foreign travellers are looking forward to redeeming travel vouchers that had to be cancelled last year due to the pandemic.
