Mercure, the global hospitality brand known for celebrating local culture, has opened its first hotel in Nepal, Mercure Kathmandu Sukedhara Heights. This marks an essential step in Mercure’s expansion across Asia, offering travellers an immersive stay that blends modern amenities with the essence of Kathmandu’s heritage.

Strategically located in the capital city, the hotel features various contemporary rooms designed with traditional Nepali accents. Guests can enjoy panoramic views of Kathmandu, the surrounding mountains, and the Himalayas. Each room has modern comforts, creating a seamless balance between luxury and local character.

Mercure Kathmandu Sukedhara Heights boasts a diverse culinary portfolio. DYNE, the all-day dining restaurant, serves international dishes alongside authentic Nepali cuisine. Sopra Italian brings Italian flavours, while Zaiqa offers traditional Indian delicacies. The rooftop Sukra Bar provides a relaxed setting with indoor and outdoor seating and offers sweeping views of the valley.

Leisure facilities include a rooftop infinity pool and a state-of-the-art fitness centre with steam and sauna services. The hotel provides versatile event spaces for business and social gatherings, catering to corporate meetings, weddings, and other celebrations.

Commenting on the launch, Garth Simmons, Chief Operating Officer for Accor’s Premium, Midscale & Economy Division in Asia, stated, “The opening of Mercure Kathmandu Sukedhara Heights is a significant milestone in Accor’s journey in Asia. This hotel embodies our mission to deliver unique travel experiences while celebrating the rich culture of each destination.”

The project is a collaboration between Accor and The Metropolitan Hotel Private Limited. Desh Bandhu Basnet (Ajit), Chairman of The Metropolitan Hotel, emphasised the shared vision behind the partnership. “This hotel is a testament to our commitment to exceptional hospitality, combining international standards with Nepal’s vibrant traditions,” he said.
