Satyajit Ray's masterpiece "Pather Panchali" is one the films that will be showcased at the ongoing G20 Film Festival, a celebration of the collaborative bond between G20 nations and invited countries within the realm of cinema. Embarking on a mission to showcase the artistic synergy within this diverse community, the festival is a joint effort by the India International Centre (IIC) and the G20 Secretariat of the Ministry of External Affairs.
Under the patronage of veteran actor Victor Banerjee and G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, the festival's inaugural ceremony promises a captivating blend of cinematic charm and diplomatic eminence.
With the thematic underpinning of India's presidency theme "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" (One Earth, One Family, One Future), K N Shrivastava, Director of IIC, said, "Seminal award-winning feature films reflect the unique tapestry of concerns and aspirations from each corner of the globe. Exploring themes of identity, memory, and societal dynamics, these films offer an intimate glimpse into the heart of each nation."
The festival will present a selection of 16 internationally-acclaimed feature films. From the vast landscapes of Australia in "We are Still Here" to the poignant narratives of Brazil's "Ana. Untitled" to artistic gems like Japan's "Aristocrats", Mexico's "Mezquite's Heart," and South Korea's introspective "Decision to Leave," the festival is a treat for cinephiles.
The festival's allure extends to all cinephiles and curious minds, with complimentary entry to all screenings at the CD Deshmukh Auditorium within IIC's premises. Capturing the essence of cinematic excellence, the G20 Film Festival promises an extraordinary journey through the lens of different cultures, inviting viewers to experience a tapestry of stories that bridge gaps and celebrate the common threads that bind us all.
