For the love of coffee

This tiny chestnut-coloured coffee grinder from Munich Airport is just what a coffee-lover needs

Author : Akshai Jain

I can live without the smell of freshly ground coffee, but I can&rsquot resist flea markets, and succumb even more easily to flea markets that sell interesting mechanical devices. I found this lovely chestnut-coloured coffee grinder (&euro20) at a flea market in the plaza between terminals I and II of the Munich airport. The coffee beans go in through an opening on top. A few turns of the handle (and the giant corkscrew shaft to which it is attached) and the finely ground powder falls efficiently into the tiny drawer below. I love working the machine&mdashand the smell of freshly ground coffee wafting through the apartment every morning is a triumphant reminder of its efficiency.
