Seek Serenity At Temples  

Chamoli is a spiritual place with a solid connection to nature. To experience this feeling, visit the Gopinath and Chamolanath temples. The name "Chamoli" comes from the Chamolanath god, whose idols were discovered and buried in this land centuries ago. Many tourists now visit this temple seeking peace and salvation. The Gopinath temple, located in Gopeshwar, was built by Katyuri kings between the 9th and 11th centuries and is one of the most renowned Shiva temples in Uttarakhand. During winter, it is also the shrine of Rudranath Ji. Additionally, Hemkund Sahib is worth a visit.

Visit The Valley Of Flowers

The Valley of Flowers boasts a stunning meadow consisting of approximately 500 species of beautiful, vibrant Himalayan flowers. According to legend, Hanuman visited this site during the Ramayana when he was tasked with obtaining the Sanjeevani Buti. The valley is situated near the Pushpawati River and is recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site. Due to snow coverage for most of the year, the ideal time to visit is between June and October.

Visit Badrinath

If you're looking for a place to visit in Chamoli, consider checking out the well-known pilgrimage town of Badrinath located 5 hours away. It's a popular destination for many devotees seeking salvation each year. While there, you can explore the main attraction, the Badrinath temple, and take a dip in Tapt Kund, a natural hot water spring with medicinal properties. Another beautiful spot to visit is Vasundhara Falls, which is believed to be the place where the Pandavas from Mahabharata ascended to heaven.

Visit The Last Village of India

Discover the last village of India, Mana, just 3 km from Badrinath. This village is aptly named as it is the final settlement before the border of India and Tibet/China. Be sure to check out the "last tea stall" located at the village's edge. Don't miss the chance to see Bheem Pul, a bridge believed to be created by Bheem during the Mahabharata era, located close to the Saraswati River. According to legend, Bheem built this rock bridge to aid Draupadi in crossing the river on their journey to heaven.

How To Reach 

To reach Chamoli, the easiest way to travel by air is to reach the nearest airport in Dehradun, which is 220 km away, and then continue the journey by road. If travelling by train, the Rishikesh railway station, 200 km away, is the closest option, followed by a road trip. Buses from major Uttarakhand towns like Rishikesh and Uttarkashi are also available for those who prefer travelling by road.
