The North East Festival is returning to Delhi for its 12th edition, offering an immersive experience into the vibrant culture of India’s Northeast region. Scheduled from November 15 to 17, 2024, the MDC National Stadium at India Gate will transform into a celebration hub featuring eight states and over 200 communities on one platform. This unique event has become a staple of Delhi’s cultural landscape, attracting visitors from across the country to discover the Northeast’s distinct artistic and culinary offerings.

Over the past decade, the North East Festival has become a prominent platform for promoting Northeastern culture in the nation's capital. Organised by the Socio-Cultural Trust Trend MMS, with the support of the Ministry of DoNER, Delhi Police, and various central and state governments, the event has fostered a greater understanding of the Northeast. It consistently champions tourism, entrepreneurship, and cultural awareness, encouraging close community ties, showcasing new talents, and providing a vital space for creativity and celebration.

“The North East Festival has grown far beyond its original concept,” said Shyamkanu Mahanta, organiser-in-chief of the North East Festival, while sharing the event’s enduring vision.“What began as a cultural showcase has evolved into a platform for unity, mutual appreciation, shared experiences and a tourism festival. It has become Delhi’s major tourism festival. This festival is more than a visual spectacle; it celebrates heritage, talent, and the innovative spirit that defines the Northeast.”

Visitors can explore a vast exhibition featuring numerous MSME stalls, each highlighting unique products from Northeastern communities. The festival’s culinary offerings promise a feast of authentic flavours from the Northeast. With approximately 60 food stalls, visitors can enjoy specialities such as Assam tea, Nagaland coffee, and various other regional delicacies. The fashion segment, known as North East Fashion Weekend, will feature 16 talented designers, each offering their unique interpretation of Northeastern style. Each evening, these fashion shows will be complemented by musical performances, creating an engaging experience for the audience.

Music is at the heart of the North East Festival, and this year's NEF Music Stage will showcase top bands and artists from both the Northeast and Delhi.
