Talk of Crazy Ideas Culture Campsite in Rotterdam

Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, known for its unique buildings, now has one more architectural fantasy laid out for travellers. Culture Campsite, a group of designers and culture enthusiasts, have come together to lay out a quirky camping ground in a corner of Rotterdam. Dotting a once empty lot are flowers beds full of seasonal blooms and in between them are unique designer bedrooms made from upcycled and waste stream materials.

But these are neither regular bedrooms nor tents. These are creative architectural adaptations of myriad objects, some of them with their own quirky tales. The Expedition North Cape is a tailor-made roof tent from a venture that never took off.  Or take the Floating Bricks where walls combine two residual flows consisting of glass strokes and brick strips.

The Scuba is a combination of two igloos in which calves are accommodated in a farm. Val Ros (Swedish for walrus) is made of an old animal silo. And if you have always yearned for dumpster diving but never managed to, then may be the garbage container sleeping pod is for you.

The number of people (one to two, two to three) who can be accommodated differs depending on the sleeping pod. Each pod can be locked from inside and outside. There is a common living room, kitchen with cooking supplies and common sanitary facilities on the campsite. They will provide you with linen while towels and extra blankets are available on request. Drinks and snacks are also available.
