The nearest railway station to both Lonavala and Khandala is Lonavala Railway Station (LNL). The nearest airport is Pune International Airport, located approximately 70-74 km away. While Khandala has its own railway station (Khandala Railway Station - KAD), Lonavala station is a major railhead and better connected to major cities like Mumbai and Pune. 

Mahabaleshwar

Situated around 120 kilometres southwest of Pune, Mahabaleshwar is a picturesque hill station at 1,372 metres above sea level. Matheran

Perched in the lush embrace of the Western Ghats, about 123 kilometres from Pune, Matheran is a hill station unlike any other. Discovered in May 1850 by Hugo Poyentz Malet, the then collector of Thane, it was Lord Elphinstone who recognised its potential and developed it into a charming hill retreat. Thanks to its elevation of over 2,000 feet above sea level, Matheran offered a cooler, less humid alternative to Bombay’s sweltering climate—soon becoming a preferred summer escape for British officials, many of whom built elegant mansions here.

True to its name, which translates to “forest on the mountaintop,” Matheran remains an oasis of calm. Declared an eco-sensitive region by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, it is Asia’s only hill station where motor vehicles are completely banned. The nearest railway station to Matheran is Neral, and the closest airport is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. Neral is located on the Mumbai-Pune railway line, and from there, you can take the Matheran Hill Railway to reach Matheran. The journey from Neral to Matheran takes around 2.5 to 3 hours, while the Aman Lodge to Matheran journey is much shorter, around 20 minutes. Aman Lodge station is conveniently located near the parking lot, and the shuttle service provides easy access to Matheran. 

Kamshet

Just 50 km from Pune, Kamshet is a serene getaway nestled in the Western Ghats, ideal for adventure seekers and nature lovers alike.
