The government of Denmark has announced that it will gradually reopen borders to travellers from selective countries from April 21.
Tourists will be welcomed after the country&rsquos older citizens have received at least one dose of a COVID vaccine.
The government and the parties have agreed that the reopening of the country should take place in four phases. While phase 1 takes place on April 21, Phase 2 starting on May 1, and Phase 3 from May 14. Phase 4, will be implemented with the EU Digital Vaccine certificate from June 26.
The Danish government stated that vaccinated citizens from European countries will be welcomed from May 1. Those who haven't received their vaccine shots coming from European countries with low-risk rates shall be allowed to enter Denmark from May 14. Travellers who haven&rsquot been vaccinated will have to provide a recent negative RT-PCR report and isolate themselves on arrival.
Jeppe Kofod Minister of Denmark Foreign Affairs stated, &ldquoIt is an important step towards gradually and safely being able to open up for holiday and pleasure travel again. At the same time, it is crucial that we proceed cautiously and sensibly. Denmark is in a good place. We must not risk a setback now.&rdquo
The Denmark government is hopeful that most people above 50 would have received their first COVID vaccination shot by the middle of May.
Earlier, Denmark had also planned on introducing corona passports which would serve as a crucial part to reopening its borders.
