Delhi Metro Launches A Pod Hotel Where You Can Sleep, Work And Play

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has rolled out a much-needed pit stop for exhausted travellers—a pod hotel near the New Delhi Metro Station. Set at the busy interchange of the Yellow Line and the Airport Express Line, The Metrostay is a compact yet cosy retreat designed to give transit passengers a chance to rest, recharge, and escape the city's non-stop hustle.

The facility, which spans 3,000 sq m, will feature various commercial rooms in addition to small sleeping pods. These pods are targeted at passengers with lengthy layovers or who want to take a break before continuing their journey. Rates start from INR 400, and the idea is a cost-effective and practical substitute for conventional lodging, following the worldwide trend of capsule hotels in important transportation hubs.

What To Expect From The New Metrostay

The Metrostay features bunk beds in well-lit spaces and designated digital lockers for a worry-free experience. There’s also a co-working space, a games area, which has indoor games like carrom, and a cinema for those who want to catch a movie or show. Keeping safety concerns in mind, the pod hotel has arranged separate female dorms and washrooms, too.

Pod Hotel To Improve Passenger Services

This development is part of DMRC’s broader strategy to enhance non-fare revenue and improve passenger amenities. Several metro stations, including Malviya Nagar, Punjabi Bagh, Azadpur, and Faridabad Sector 20B, are being transformed into commercial hubs featuring retail outlets and food courts. Additionally, a banquet hall has been established at the Noida Electronic City Metro Station, expanding the utility of metro premises beyond transit services.

Strategic sectors for future commercial growth have been recognised by the DMRC. According to sources, Kohat Enclave will become a commercial zone with an abundance of parking, Azadpur will see the construction of 21,000 sq m of office and retail space, and Mohan Estate will see 8,900 sq m used for industrial purposes. Additionally, 4,100 sq m will be added to the Anand Vihar Metro Station for retail space.
