Here's something new from the field of aviation and they are calling it "New Gateway" to China. Beijing Daxing International Airport is now open for business. The $11.2 billion airport is creating huge waves internationally because
A) Design-wise the airport is spectacuar and is shaped like a starfish
B) Beijing is now one of the major cities with more than one international airport. Other cities being London, New York and Tokyo.
C) Better connectivity with other parts of Asia and Europe. China Eastern airlines Corp. and China Southern Airlines Co. will operate their first-ever direct flights to Paris and Moscow from Beijing Daxing International Airport.
D) Beijing will now be in the same league as Hong Kong and Singapore where international connectivity is concerned.
E) The size of the airport is astounding. Measuring 700,000 square metres, Beijing Daxing International Airport is the largest terminal in the world, housed in a single building. Bigger airport means convenient for fliers.
F) Futuristic travel is here because the airport has robots taking care of customer service, facial recognition check-ins and automated bag-drops.
