After a break of some four months, international flights have resumed from Chennai. As of now, flights will be available to Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

This is, however, not a daily service so the number of flights will be restricted in view of the ongoing pandemic.

Authorities at Chennai airport have implemented several safety protocols including isolation rooms, social distancing norms and an increment in disinfection processes of luggage. Airport officials who come directly in contact with passengers.will be kitted out in personal protective equipment (PPE).

Here are some more rules that you should take note of

If you are travelling to Chennai via a flight, you will have to undergo thermal screening at the airport. All passengers arriving from Delhi, Gujarat or Maharashtra or outside India have to take COVID-19 test, while any other passenger may be subjected to random testing by state health authorities after they arrive in Chennai.

Visitors are expected to stay in quarantine for 14 days and can even opt for home quarantine if the result is negative. The government of Tamil Nadu has announced that if you arrive with a negative COVID certificate from abroad, you do not need to undergo the 7-day institutional quarantine. But you have to take the test at the Chennai airport.

If you have left the state within two days you will be exempted from the quarantine rules if you do not have any symptoms.

One important point to note is that all visitors arriving at Tamil Nadu have to register their details on the state and get the Tamil Nadu e-pass from the website. Before boarding, airlines officials will check this e-pass.

GoAir and Indigo have announced the schedule and guidelines for flights between Chennai and the cities in UAE, and SpiceJet for flights from Madurai to UAE till August end.

You can read more about this here. Airlines from UAE will be adding their flights very soon. Keep an eye on their social media handles for more information.

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) approaches, more flights are expected to be scheduled to and from UAE.
