Starting August 18, 2015, British Airways has decided to restrict the dimensions of the second smaller bag, such as handbags, which passengers (economy and premium class) are allowed to carry on its flights. As per the airlines&rsquo updates, the measurements of the second carry-on luggage will be capped at 40x30x15cm (down from 45x36x20cm). The maximum size of the main carry-on bags remains the same, one bag of up to 56x45x25cm, weighing up to 23kg. According to the airlines, the rule is being implemented to cut down on boarding time -- when passengers carry oversized luggage on board, the luggage in the overhead lockers have to be rearranged which takes up a lot of time. The new dimensions of the second luggage will allow it to be stored beneath the seat.
