Book Now, Pay Later: All About The New Initiative By Indian Railways

These initiatives by Indian Railways continue to make train travel more accessible, comfortable, and user-friendly for passengers nationwide

Indian Railways has introduced an innovative feature to make travel planning even more convenient with the launch of the ‘Book Now, Pay Later’ option. This initiative allows passengers to secure a confirmed ticket without making any upfront payment. Here’s how you can avail of this feature:

  1. Log in to Your IRCTC Account

  2. Start by logging into your IRCTC account on the official website.

  3. Choose ‘Book Now’

  4. Select the ‘Book Now’ option for your desired train and journey.

  5. Enter Passenger Details

  6. A new page will prompt you to fill in passenger details and a captcha code. After entering the necessary information, click ‘Submit’.

7. Payment Page

8. You will then be directed to the payment page to select payment options such as credit/debit card, BHIM app, or net banking.

9. Register for ‘Pay Later’

10. To use the Pay Later option, first visit www.epaylater.in for registration.

11. Complete Booking

12. After registration, the ‘Pay Later’ option will be available, allowing you to complete the booking and secure a confirmed ticket without paying upfront.

However, the entire payment has to be made online within 14 days of booking. A 3.5 per cent service charge will apply if you miss this deadline. Paying on time will incur no extra charges.

Other Recent Indian Railways Features

Over the past year, Indian Railways has introduced several features to enhance the travel experience for passengers. These include:

New IRCTC Next Generation Booking System: This system offers quicker and easier bookings with enhanced features and improved user experience.

Vikalp Scheme: A facility for passengers to opt for an alternative train in case their booked train gets delayed or overbooked.

E-Catering Services: Now, you can order meals from your choice of restaurants via the IRCTC website or app, with delivery directly to your seat on select trains.

Digital Ticketing System: Introduction of mobile-based ticketing and QR code scanning to reduce the need for physical tickets, making travel more efficient.
