The Karkatgarh Waterfall is not only beautiful but soon it will be home to the state's first Crocodile Conservation Reserve (CCR). Back in the day, the waterfall used to be a crocodile hunting ground for the Mughals and the British officers. But now it&rsquos all about crocodile conservation. Soon you can encounter the perfect example of how nature can bounce back with its full might if left undisturbed.

The plan to create the reserve came after the authorities spotted around 75 crocodiles near the falls proving it to be a natural habitat for the reptiles. The waterfall, one of the state's prominent tourist destinations is now all set to promote eco- tourism in the area. Crocodile experts from different parts of the country have been appointed for further research of the spot and preparations to create a CCR are underway. The waterfall is rich in flora and fauna of the Kaimur hills which also means a great way for the visitors to connect with nature. Kaimur district can be visited easily as it falls near Varanasi and Sarnath which are renowned pilgrim and tourist destinations and has good road and rail connection.
