Learn To Care For The Environment At The Valmiki Tiger Reserve

Take a right step towards eco-tourism and follow the Bihar Government in raising awareness regarding the same. Spot tigers at Bihar&rsquos revered Valmiki Tiger Reserve while keeping their homes safe. Located right at the Indian-Nepalese border, the Valmiki Tiger Reserve is a significant site in Bihar. Enclosed by mountains, 35 tigers live within its confines. With destinations around the country starting to work towards eco-tourism by caring towards the environment, Bihar tourism has also joined the cause with the Chief Minister of the state announcing the opening of new facilities in Valmiki Nagar, West Champaran district. The facilities, aimed at promoting ecotourism, will help sustain the greenery of the tiger reserve.

Highly regarded in the state, the Valimki Tiger Reserve is a prime location with the Gandak River following alongside it. The area around the reserve, specifically Valmiki Nagar, has seen an insurmountable development in the past few years. The Bihar Chief Minister is highly optimistic in turning this tiger home to a prolific tourist destination. Expectations are that this will see an influx of tourists coming into Bihar.  

The new facilities will include a series of cottages which will be running throughout the year and for which bookings can be made online. Till mid-November this year, close to 45,000 visitors made their way to the Valmiki Tiger Reserve. Nitish Kumar hopes to eclipse the one lakh landmark once the ecotourism development of the site is complete. The Water Resource Department is also aiding the State Government transferring 200 acres of land to help transform the location to be environmentally friendly. The head of the State Government also adds that a convention center is also in the process to allow hosting of programmes.
