Australians to Stay Indoors this Holiday Season

The season of celebration is at its peak, and with it the potential threat of the spread of coronavirus, due to domestic, interstate and international travelling is also increasing. Australia is the next in a long list of countries which are reporting a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases recently. Due to cluster outbreaks in the northern beaches of Sydney, a new set of rules will come into effect this holiday season.

The northern beaches refers to the coastal areas of Manly, Narrabeen and Palm Beach. Those who have visited the beaches since December 11 have been requested to isolate themselves, and get tested. The residents of the regions have been requested by state authorities to stay indoors, as much as possible, and avoid unnecessary gatherings or social outings.

Border restrictions have also been re-imposed to some extent. Travelling from Sydney to Victoria is not permitted for residents who belong to &lsquored zone&rsquo areas of Sydney. A permit system has been imposed for travellers from NSW, and for anyone who is entering Victoria.

Victoria residents have been warned not to travel to Sydney or the NSW region.

This has come as a serious blow to the holiday travel plans. Victoria had achieved 49 days free of any infected cases, but with the recent outbreak in neighbouring regions, residents will have to be vigilant this holiday season.
