Arunachal Pradesh Unveils New Tourism Policy To Boost Film, Farming, And Eco-Tourism

In a move to enhance its tourism appeal, Arunachal Pradesh has launched a comprehensive tourism policy focusing on film tourism, farming experiences, wine-making, and eco-tourism. The state, known for its natural beauty and diverse tribal cultures, aims to attract domestic and international visitors through unique and immersive experiences.

Spearheaded by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, the policy emphasises promoting Arunachal's untapped potential. "Tourism means a lot to us," Khandu stated, highlighting the state's picturesque landscapes, abundant wildlife, and rich cultural heritage. The new policy aims to offer tourists authentic experiences while boosting the local economy.

One of the key initiatives under this policy is the "Kiwi Owning and Kiwi Fruit Picking Experience" in Ziro, Lower Subansiri district. Tourists can engage in sustainable farming by participating in an "Annual Timeshare Programme," where they can own and pick kiwi fruits, supporting local farmers and fostering a deeper connection with nature. The initiative also promotes eco-tourism, encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in the region's agriculture.

The policy also places emphasis on film tourism, inviting filmmakers to explore the state's scenic beauty for movie shoots, and wine tourism, offering tourists the chance to learn about and participate in local wine-making processes. Additionally, the state's eco-tourism efforts are designed to protect its natural and cultural heritage while promoting responsible travel.

Arunachal Pradesh has also introduced a homestay policy to ensure visitors have an authentic and holistic experience, staying with locals and gaining insight into the region's tribal communities.

To attract adventure enthusiasts, the government, in collaboration with the Indian Army, has supported a bike ride through the state's breathtaking landscapes and "Vibrant Villages." Chief Minister Khandu has personally invited tourists to visit Dong, the easternmost point of India, to witness the country's first sunrise, and experience the serenity of this peaceful village.
