Gurugram is becoming quite the hub of F&B with new and noteworthy additions coming up. The latest is a gourmet restaurant with an interesting theme.
Studio Lotus, a multidisciplinary design practice based in New Delhi, has launched their latest gourmet F&B project, in the heart of Gurugram The House of Celeste. Exploring India&rsquos multiculturalism and celebrating its sense of togetherness and belonging, the dining spaces at The House of Celeste feature a series of interconnected pockets, inspired by the country&rsquos seasonal shifts and rich tropical biodiversity. The design vocabulary uses storytelling cues and a varied material palette accentuated against a backdrop of tropical wallpapers, mosaic tiles, and textured paint to create an immersive dining experience.
The idea to imbibe tropical influences for the design emerged from conversations with Suvir Saran, the Michelin Star chef at the restaurant's helm, about his interpretation of how gastronomic traditions are passed on over generations. He spoke about the legacy of Indian recipes, his journey, and experiments with food and his interpretation of how gastronomic traditions are passed on over generations. The inspiration came from this tradition of storytelling where the eatery was envisioned to feature a Cabinet of Stories that divides the kitchen and dining area and brings the stories of cuisine and culture into the space.
Guests enter the restaurant through the Outdoor Café, which leads to the Verandah, a café, and patisserie. The Fun Dining area is a fine-dining space splashed in royal blue and accentuated with round mirrors and animal figurines. A private dining room, Pinjra, offers an intimate dining experience, enhancing guests&rsquo sensorial experience of being in a &lsquobirdcage&rsquo. A common feature that emerges as a storytelling device is the Cabinet of Stories. Running as an uninterrupted grid of mild steel embellished with timber inserts, mirrors, and animal figurines, it is juxtaposed against a verdant wallpaper backdrop depicting birds and animals perched, swinging, and peeking from behind the leaves. Storytelling also finds expression as intricate details in the furniture, upholstery, crockery, shelves, floors, and furnishings. This eclectic mix of design elements work together to surprise and delight guests.
The interior design scheme creates pockets of intense expressions of the concept intended to surprise and delight the visitor. The spaces in the restaurant trace the jungle theme through a series of dining experiences. Guests enter the restaurant through the alfresco Outdoor Café, which leads to the Verandah, a cafe, and patisserie. The Fun Dining has been envisaged as a fine dining space, and the luxurious Pinjra has been designed to offer an intimate dining experience. ''
Borrowing from India&rsquos myriad seasonal shifts and weather patterns, and their relationship with jungle fauna, progressive colour transitions have been incorporated as spatial markers within the restaurant. A mix of materials, mild steel, stone, and timber comprise the material palette, accentuated against a backdrop of tropical wallpapers, mosaic tiles, and textured paint.
The menu is influenced by regional cuisines and each dish has been given a twist. For instance, they offer a Mutton Seekh Kebab dish served with Kashmiri Bakharkhani a Prawn Balchao Mess with a Pickled Cauliflower And Lemon Foam and an Amaranth Corn Bhel With Trio Of Chutneys And Rice Crispies. If you want to order the conservative dishes, they also do European mains like pastas and salads, lamb, salmon and chicken roasts of different kinds. Do not miss the Jalebi With Apple Murabba, Basundi and Peshawari Pista in their desserts section. The average price of a dish ranges from around Rs399 to Rs899.
