Watch the 60-feet traditional dhows compete in a sailing race on 23 May

Author : OurTeam

The Al Gaffal Dhow Race of Dubai is held to make people aware of the times when pearl diving was a key occupation here. On May 23, 2015, this traditional sailing race, where the dhows have to follow traditional build and size, will celebrate its 25th anniversary. Around 100 traditional boats, measuring 60 feet each, will be participating in the long-distance sailing competition organised by the Dubai International Marine Club. You can watch the race from the shore or book a seat on specially chartered Dubai Ferry rides (inclusive of food and beverages limited tickets) that will start and end at the Marina Mall. Usually, the race is held from Sir Bu Nair Island to Mina Seyahi. As sailing is a weather dependent sport, the schedule may change according to the sailing conditions.
