The Maharajah Now Offers A Full Refund On Cancelled Tickets

Need to cancel an Air India ticket Now you can

If you are a frequent air traveller, tired of paying inordinate cancellation charges for the slightest change of plans, we have a breather for you. Air India has announced its new policy of full refund of any cancellations within 24 hours of booking, effective today. According to an announcement by Air India, the airlines will provide all domestic passengers tickets with the free look-in option for change and cancellation. The passenger will have the option of cancelling or amending the ticket without any additional charges, given that the flight is scheduled at least seven days after the booking date.

These commendable changes in flight ticket booking have been introduced weeks after the Ministry of Civil Aviation issued a 'passenger rights charter' in February this year. The charter, in fact, prescribes many more rules and regulations, keeping the passengers&rsquo interest as its top priority. For starters, the charter states that airlines should either offer alternate flights or full refund when there is a flight delay of over six hours.

In case of cancellation of a flight by the airline within less than a day&rsquos notice, the airline has to either offer an alternate flight or refund full money as per the traveller&rsquos preference. There have never been any provisions for any monetary compensations for missing connecting flights because of a delayed flight, yet the charter has even taken care of this long-ignored concern.

With Air India taking the first step, more airlines are expected to soon include these provisions for customer care in their policies. To learn more about the various other regulations prescribed by the charter, you can visit the official link here.
