Kolkata Centre for Creativity will host an evening on the Santhal string-puppetry tradition Chadar Badar as part of AMI Arts Festival 2025. NMACC introduces India’s first theatrical ice-rink production this December with 'The Nutcracker On Ice', featuring twenty-three international skaters, including Olympic and World champions. Directed by Tony Mercer with choreography inputs from Evgeny Platov and Maxim Staviski, the show adapts Tchaikovsky’s ballet into an ice-theatre format uncommon in the country. The staging includes moving sets designed by Eamon D’Arcy, atmospheric lighting effects, and costumes by Elena Predvodeteleva. The production traces the familiar storyline of Marie and her Nutcracker doll across settings ranging from early-20th-century St Petersburg to fictional dreamscapes.

Grand Hyatt Mumbai Hotel and Residences is hosting Japanoise: In the Shadow of the Floating World, an exhibition by Lakeeren Contemporary that brings together a group of prominent Indian contemporary artists. The show examines the intersections between Indian artistic practices and Japanese aesthetic philosophies, shifting the focus from visual influence to shared conceptual frameworks. Participating artists include Anju Dodiya, Astha Butail, Dayanita Singh, Manjunath Kamath, Meenakshi Nihalani, Mithu Sen, Parul Gupta, Remen Chopra Van Der Vaart, Shaurya Kumar, Shilpa Gupta, Thukral and Tagra, and Vinita Mungi. The works engage with ideas of stillness, impermanence, repair, and the poetics of nature, drawing from concepts such as ma, wabi-sabi, kintsugi, and the floating world. Key pieces include Dodiya’s The Red Cord (2017), Butail’s Quintessence of Martand Part I (2025), Singh’s Montage VIII (2019), Nihalani’s Riverside Works (2025), and Sen’s Kintsugi I–III (2025). The exhibition concludes with Vinita Mungi’s Zen Garden (2025), a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional form.
