On January 16, 2025, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah launched the ‘Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme’ (FTI-TTP) from Ahmedabad, expanding seamless immigration clearance to major airports in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Cochin. This significant advancement means that Indian citizens and OCI cardholders can navigate immigration processes with unparalleled ease at these seven key locations. According to the government, it is aimed at making international travel easy and secure. As the programme rolls out to a total of 21 major airports nationwide, it ensures that all travelers can enjoy a smoother, more efficient journey. This initiative builds on the successful launch of FTI-TTP in June 2024 at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in New Delhi, showcasing the government’s commitment to enhancing travel experiences across India.

About The Programme

The FTI-TTP represents a pivotal advancement in the ‘Viksit Bharat’ 2047 initiative, designed to offer travellers world-class immigration facilities that ensure international journeys are both seamless and secure. To enhance accessibility, this service was initially launched at no cost for Indian citizens and OCI cardholders, making it an invaluable resource for those embarking on global adventures.

Indian and foreign citizens holding OCI cards who enrol in the Fast Track Immigration—Trusted Traveller Programme will experience faster, easier, and more secure immigration clearance. Membership in the programme is valid for five years, or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.

How It Works

The FTI-TTP has been implemented through an online portal: https://ftittp.mha.gov.in. To enrol in the programme, applicants must register by filling out the required details and uploading the necessary documents to the portal. Users can sign up after verifying their identity through a mobile OTP and email confirmation.

It is important to ensure that the passport is valid for at least six months when applying for the FTI-TTP. Eligible applicants must provide biometric information, including a fingerprint, facial image, and the required data fields in the application form. Enrollment in the programme will be completed after the necessary verifications and confirmation of eligibility.

With this programme, you can experience seamless travel with advanced biometric authentication at the e-gates. Once your biometrics are verified, the e-gate will open automatically, ensuring a smooth immigration clearance process. Biometrics can be enrolled at any designated International Airport in India or the nearest FRRO office. You will receive a convenient appointment schedule sent directly to your registered email.
