Goa's colourful and fun-filled annual carnival to begin on February 14, 2015

Go Goa

The annual carnival (officially called the Goa Carnaval) organised by Goa Tourism, is a celebration of Goa&rsquos Portuguese legacy, through colourfully decorated floats, foot-tapping music, food festivals and the King Momo contest, will take place between February 14 and 17, 2015.  The carnival was introduced by the Portuguese, who ruled Goa for over four centuries. The inauguration will be at Panjim, where King Momo will pronounce his reign over Goa for the next three days at the first parade of the carnival. As the first day of the festival coincides with the universally celebrated Valentine&rsquos Day, the carnival&rsquos themes will revolve around &lsquoCupid and Love&rsquo. Goa Tourism is also working around themes like &lsquoLove Goa&rsquo and &lsquoCelebrate with Goa&rsquo. Major Goan cities &ndash Margao, Vasco, Mapusa and Ponda &ndash will also host the four-day festivities. Cultural programs and dances will also be organized across the state.
