Five Indian airports have been recognised as among the world’s best in the Asia-Pacific region for the 2024 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards, a leading airport passenger satisfaction program.

Indian Airports Win Big At ASQ Awards

Kannur International Airport (Kerala), Chandigarh Airport (Chandigarh), Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (Hyderabad), Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (Mumbai), and Indira Gandhi International Airport (Delhi) were among the top airports, with a 20 per cent overall satisfaction score by size and region at departure.

For airports serving under two million passengers per year, Kannur International Airport was ranked among Pattimura International Airport (Indonesia) and Zhangjiakou Ningyuan Airport (China). Kannur Airport leads in sustainability initiatives as well, since its passenger terminal building has a double-skin aluminium roofing system and efficient LED lighting in a bid to make itself more energy efficient.

For airports serving two to five million passengers per year, Chandigarh Airport was ahead of fellow winners Jenderal Ahmad Yani International Airport (Indonesia), Langkawi International Airport (Malaysia), Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport (Indonesia), Supadio Airport (Indonesia), and Yogyakarta International Airport (Indonesia).

For airports serving five to 25 million passengers per year, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport was among fellow honourees Haikou Meilan International Airport (China) and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport (Indonesia).

For airports serving over 40 million passengers per year, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Indira Gandhi International Airport were felicitated alongside Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (China), Incheon International Airport (Republic of Korea), Shanghai Pudong International Airport (China), Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (China), Singapore Changi Airport (Singapore), and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Indonesia).

No Indian airport made the cut in the five- to 15-million passenger or 25- to 40-million passenger categories.

Honours For Other Airports

Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru and Mangaluru International Airport, both of which are in Karnataka, were recognised as among the best airport for arrivals globally. They are acccompanied by Bahrain International Airport and Zayed International Airport (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates).

Part of ACI World, the ASQ Awards recognise airport excellence in customer experience worldwide based on data from their departures and arrivals surveys. Launched in 2006, ASQ is the world’s leading airport passenger satisfaction program with over 400 participating airports in 110 countries.
