Deputy Chief Minister of Tourism Diya Kumari expressed enthusiasm for this initiative, highlighting its potential to showcase Rajasthan's rich cultural heritage and traditional marriage customs to a global audience. The inclusion of the Palace on Wheels in the roster of wedding venues is not only a testament to Rajasthan's commitment to fostering tourism but also a strategic move to elevate the state's appeal as a wedding destination.
In tandem with efforts to enhance wedding infrastructure, the Rajasthan Tourism Department is also focused on upgrading basic facilities at tourist sites across the state. These improvements, aligned with global standards, are designed to enhance the overall tourist experience and attract a greater influx of visitors, both domestic and international. With Rajasthan boasting 75 per cent of the nation's heritage properties, the state is well-positioned to captivate tourists with its rich cultural tapestry and architectural wonders.
While cities like Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur have long been favoured destinations for weddings, the appeal of Rajasthan extends far beyond its urban centres. Lesser-known districts are also gaining recognition for their enchanting forts, palaces, and mansions, providing idyllic settings for couples seeking a truly regal wedding experience. In fact, over 120 historical sites across the state have been hosting destination weddings, underscoring Rajasthan's growing popularity as a wedding destination of choice.
